5 Bathroom Trends for 2018

Bathroom design can be an afterthought for most, but with these decor trends we’re seeing for 2018, it could soon become your favourite room in the house. From whimsical features to new gadgets, see what’s in store for the year ahead!

High Tech Accessories

With everything in the home moving towards technology, the bathroom is no exception. Expect to see an increase in digitally controlled showers, which allow you to control every aspect through a sleek touch monitor, or just your voice, eliminating excess hardware from the shower. Finally, no more fiddling to find that perfect temperature! We’re also going to see more smart toilets, which are already hugely popular in Europe and Japan. While the initial change may be startling, the cleanliness and convenience of these will win you over fast.

Playful Tile

Terrazzo, hexagon, scalloped, bright colours, it’s all in store for 2018! The monochrome trend for bathrooms is still going strong and likely always will be, but colour and funky tile is making a comeback. The beauty of bathrooms and smaller spaces is the ability to turn them into the more experimental design rooms of the house. Time to pull out that mint green tile you were hesitant to use in the kitchen!

Metal Frame Showers

Shower doors and frames are often overlooked in bathroom design, but metal framed shower doors are quickly gaining steam. While this trend may seem more suited to an industrial style bathroom, it lends itself just as nicely to a soft, vintage vibe.

Floating Vanities & Storage

Floating vanities and storage offer a practical yet chic solution for those looking to minimize clutter in the bathroom. Whether it’s the master ensuite, or downstairs powder room, every inch of space counts, and these streamlined designs deliver in modern elegance.

Marble

This trend refuses to quit and we hope it never does. Marble transformed from stuffy to fresh luxury and it’s all in the way it gets styled. This is mostly done by letting marble showcase itself, and keeping everything else minimal.
